I may have been a bit harsh or having a bad day when I last rated this. This is a relatively standard example of an American pale ale. What you would expect from a mainstream commercial pale ale. Good bitterness on the tongue suits my palate

It says it is “Big & Bold but Approachable”. Certainly is approachable but not a big bold pale ale by any stretch of the imagination. I guess it lost that when purchased by the Asahi beverages group as it is quite mild and low on the flavours that they boast on the label.
