Muuten ihan jees, mutta hinta puolet kalliimpi jopa täällä etelä-afrikassa perus oluisiin verrattuna niin tuskin ostan toiste.

Semiclear, amber beer with introvert, rushed carbonation delivers an off-white, whipped-creamy head that reaches maximum one finger. The froth descends gradually to a thin lacing on top. The contracting head leaves only very minor lacey ridge on the wall of the glass. The nose experiences modest biscuit and a gentle touch of dough, flavored by a lame combination of apricot, blood grapefruit and sweet orange. The taste receptors get a better impression of the beer than what the nose got as the gustatory offer includes light-crisp pale malt, faint dough and a biscuity whisper, followed by bitter orange peel, subdued dried apricot and a bit of grapefruit zest. The light-bodied beer ends over time with the same elements as upfront but with a slightly more bitter-leaning twist. The mouthfeel is light, clean and smooth. Generally speaking, this is significantly easy and even to some extent summery.

Basically lucid, dark brown beer with ruby tint and restrained, hasty carbonation unlocks a subdued, light beige head that falls short of half a finger. The weak foam descends rushedly to a frazil-icy lacing wafting on the top. Eventually the surface is totally flat still. The fragrance is truly mild, displaying merely slightly sweet dark malt, a little bit of molasses and a pinch of brown sugar. The taste portrays light-dry dark malt, a subtle injection of bitter syrup, faint molasses and a dark caramelly nuance. I also find a suggestion of licorice and a distant smoky aroma. The body is scanty. The beer ends with slightly bitter caramel, faintly roasted dark malt, a touch of soot and a remote smoky touch. The aftertaste plays with the tastebuds over medium duration. The mouthfeel is thin, remotely roasty, faintly lip-glueing and relatively flat.

Relatively hazy, honey-orange beer with reasonable, rapid carbonation pours a big-bubbled, off-white head that barely reaches one finger. The top loses quickly strength and dissolves to a thin moldy layer on the surface. Some thick coverings are left on the wall of the glass. The nuances of zesty grapefruit, a bit of lemon juice, a drop of orange and distant mango emanate to the nostrils. The palate is quite nice, somewhat crisp IPA: grapefruit and lemon pulp constitute the key elements of the taste accompanied by a good pinch of grated lemon peel and a subtle resinous touch. The body is light to light-medium. The beer finishes long with crisp grapefruit and lemon zest, a tad lemon peel and a distant resinous note. The mouthfeel is light-crisp, somewhat juicy, a bit mouth-drying and rather old-school.

Impenetrable, very deep dark brown beer resembles black coffee. The moderate, short-lived carbonation creates a cappuccino-colored, porous head that exceeds two fingers. The foamy mattress loses air relatively rapidly, leaves thick cobwebs on the glass and descends to a neat lacing on top. The nose experiences a mixture of dark chocolate, raw cocoa nibs and a drop of espresso. The gustatory package is more robust than the fragrance: the tongue receives slightly bitter raw chocolate, raw cocoa powder, a bit of rye malt and a tiny dollop of strong, overstayed black coffee. The body is light. The beer ends with a rather mild cocktail of raw chocolate and dark chocolate, accompanied by raw cocoa nibs and some rye malt. A strong coffeeish note further flavors the experience. The aftertaste keeps the tastebuds active for some time. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, medium-dry and distantly lip-glueing. Quite a decent Stout for such a low ABV of 4.7 %.

Let's leave the industrial beers for a while and concentrate on the very local craft beer from Sabie. Relatively hazy, gold beer with abrupt, short-lived carbonation unleashes a silky, off-white head that barely reaches one finger. The foamy cap descends rather rapidly to a neat lacing on top. The withdrawing foam paints the glass with a few diagonal splashes on the wall of the glass. The olfactory provision includes distinct wheat malt, loads of lemon pulp and a tad zesty grapefruit. I can also detect a small amount of toast, faint pineapple and significantly remote banana. The palate portrays substantially fruity and somewhat bittercrisp lemon peel, a decent dollop of lemon zest and slightly stuffy wheat malt. Yeast is somewhat disturbing. A tiny heap of wheat flour, some toast and distant bitter orange peel accompany in the immediate proximity. The body is rather skinny. The beer finishes with medium-strong lemon peel and a tad lemon pulp, all embedded in recognizeable stuffy wheat malt. A yeasty aroma follows later. The aftertaste teases the tastebuds for a short to medium time. The mouthfeel is watery, slightly crisp and rather refreshing. It's also at the same time a bit musty and uninspiring. Not a winner from this local brewery.
