Epic Brewing Company
Salt Lake City, United States
chevron_leftchevron_right
Epic Brewery is Utah’s first brewery ever since the restriction to operate local microbrewery with high alcohol content took place in the state. The brewery is founded by David Cole and Peter Erickson. Their love and passion for beers were influenced by their frequent travels to microbreweries in California, where they originated. Fine ales and lagers have become their main focus with the dedication to brew beers ‘all out.’ They reached immediate success.

I’m a little disappointed in this one. It has that whiskey barrel taste with some oak to it. It has just hints of a nutty taste and even less of chocolate taste.
Double chocolate & double peanut butter cup - not even close. Supposed to have coffee, chocolate & peanut butter. I didn’t get any coffee and barely chocolate. Peanut butter - no. Just a little nutty. Maybe aging it for 4 years made it lose its flavor. Doesn’t make sense tho.
The only saving grace is it is a whiskey barrel so that saved it. That was a 3.7 in its own. The rest is a 0.5. Had to drop the rating for missing the mark tho.
Overall it just didn’t have the flavor listed on the bottle. I still enjoyed tho.

It’s hot and humid, so why not have a stout. This has a dark roasted malt with very light char to it with some bakers chocolate, oak, light vanilla, very light coffee and a light spicy rye whiskey taste. It’s bitter with some sweetness to it. Thickness is medium.
Overall you can’t go wrong with a Big Bad Baptist.

Happy Father’s Day to all you Dads out there.
This kind of hits you with the whiskey up front with dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, roasted malt and some whiskey barrel wood taste all slowly increasing as you get further in. The cherries kick in about midway thru. They are not very prominent but it gets a just a little stronger as you get further in. I’m not picking up any coconut (I do smell it) and no coffee. Medium thickness. Sweet and not bitter.
Overall it’s not the best in the series but is very good. Not exactly a true Black Forest cake taste but I think that is a plus. I started thinking 3.8. Finishing at a 4.0. So I’ll go in the middle.
