Found this in the back of the fridge. Been very disappointed in 903 lately. Started with a high frothy head, seems to be lingering. A solid clear yellow color. Expected citrus aroma leaning toward orange peel and grapefruit. Flavor is strange. Sweet pink grapefruit, salty, lime and resin. The resin dominates and the level of hop bitterness is low. An unusual combination that isn't particularly good but it least it doesn't seem artificial. But it probably is. PS: I'm not paying for the barcode reader.

I can't believe Ryan found this very special edition 903 Brewery beer. Expensive and exclusively combined with a very rare Iron Root Whiskey barrel and finished on Amburana wood. A very, very limited edition of Texas whiskey. He always finds the best beers to share with me. This son-in-law knows how to bond, but I'm not taking my daughter back. Using my 903 glass on this. Sweet alcohol aroma, some molasses. This first taste is both confusing and disappointing. Ryan and I had to stop, retaste, and evaluate again,,,,and again,,,,and again. He paid $25 for this bottle. It has a rare barrel and a rare wood for aging. The flavor has very little malt, a flat whiskey, and a cherry Dr Pepper cole taste. A whiskey burn that seems more powerful than the 13.0% but it's not pleasing or adds to the overall experience. Travels into the finish sweet and unexceptional. There is little malt and no hops. Doesn't even taste like a beer. I have had more 903 Brewing beers than any other Brewery. A Texas Brewery that I loved, at first. I even have their glass. But if this $25 beer is the best they can do, if this is the Pinnacle of their brewing ability, I'm done. This is not a good beer. Perhaps their Master Brewer left or maybe it's just a grab for money but I don't care about ever having another from them. Very sad about this.

This is another 903 Brewery Stout that I brought back from Texas for Ryan and I to use as a Duo beer. A high alcohol pastry Stout that we will hopefully find is not cutting corners, which they have been doing lately. Not much head, poured like syrup. Super sweet aroma that gives chocolate and peanut butter. Texture is heavy. soft and velvetly smooth. Abundance of flavor that immediately give a chewy chocolate cookie type experience. Very sweet with only a hint of peanut butter toward the middle. That's when it happens. That medicine/metallic aroma that travels from the back of the tongue into the nasal cavity that screams "artificial flavoring"! We both recognized it immediately. To use a 13% base Stout to combine with so much artificial flavor seems like a waste. The finish brought a small amount of perhaps toffee but no graham cracker. Overall too sweet. I have had an abundance of 903 Brewery beers, mainly because they put out a lot of beers in Texas. But I may be done with them. Their chocolate extract overwhelms everything in its path including a 13% based stout. As it warmed in the glass, the artificial quality becomes more and more apparent. This is an obvious money grab with little concern for quality. They charged a premium price for this beer, I'll spend my premium dollars on premium quality beers from now on.

Delightful! Light and crisp with notes of honey and an ever so slight peppery heat that lingers in the background. This is totally a sopapilla in beer form!
