2018 vintage. Semiclear, visibly thick and slow-moving honey-hued beer with oppressed carbonation lays a moderate, cream-colored head that falls short of half a finger. Soon a mere lace ring adorns the top. The retreating foam pours down from the wall of the glass. The fragrance is astonishingly weak: I pick a faint fruity nuance and an extraordinarily timid vinous provision as if distantly Lambic-y. Later I start receiving a note of oaky Bourbon. The taste is completely the opposite: powerful sweet malt, a bit of wheat biscuit and abundantly fermented peach and orange. Alcohol is massive on the taste receptors; first it's rather difficult to identify the nuance of Bourbon behind the curtain of heavy fermentation but soon it becomes apparent with the hint of oak barrel. A drop of honey seasons the package in the background. Interestingly, the acceptance of the taste of alcohol changes during the tasting: first it disturbs, then it's bearable, and eventually even attractive. The body is medium-full. The beer ends with heavy fermented peach, a tad fermented orange, hefty sweet malt, wheat dough and a small amendment of lemon biscuit. Bourbon is evident and relatively strong in the finish. The aftertaste pushes the tastebuds' alarm button for a medium to long time. The mouthfeel is extraordinarily strong, really heavy and distinctly alcoholic. It's also thick, somewhat chewy but surprisingly little lip-glueing. Furthermore, the mouthfeel is modestly carbonated, somewhat deep and warming but rather one-dimensional. Overall, this is one of the slowest beers I've ever had. You can't rush with this. Resembles an Eisbock. This is unique and definitely challenging. Not for beginners.

Bourbon hits first in the aroma, followed by some oak and vanilla. Taste has much of the same. Bourbon, oak and vanilla along with some caramel. Very well made and well balanced wheatwine. 4/5
