The third beer on Clown Shoes "12 Beers of Christmas" that my son-in-law from Texas gave to me. I am going to Duo this beer with him and we will compare what we think of it.
Very high, very thick, deep brown head. Citrus aroma which is unusual for a stout. First taste is reminiscent of a black IPA. Bitter and citrusy at first then comes with a strong roasted coffee. Bitter coffee and citrus flavor continues through the finish. Leaves the mouth feeling very dry.
Unusual combination. Swirled a glass halfway through and the head reappears. They may have done a good job with this beer but it's not the kind of stout that I enjoy. Unusual, yes. Would have been much better classified as a black IPA. As a stout, not so much.

I started off saying that this was way too bitter to enjoy as a stout... I will say, that this tastes like an IPA mixed in with a imperial stout. It's weird, but interestingly good at the same time. The malts , chocolate and coffee notes were more pronounced , half way through the can.. I gave this four stars, for being spot on in what I think clown shoes was trying to accomplish in taste. I will recommend this for sure. Cheers 🍻

Nice pour with a thick fluffy head. Smells hoppy and the taste follows. Never had a dry hopped stout before that I recall. This is pretty good. Imagine it's similar to a black ipa you would find. Gotta love the clown shoes artwork if nothing else.
