21 Pale Ale - Citra
5.2% American Pale Ale
This soft and delicate single-hopped pale ale showcases one of our favourite American hops: Citra. A fruit-forward aroma builds into a vibrant tropical character, creating a beer that is full-bodied, juicy and refreshing.

Brew by numbers have a gaff (taproom) in the Bermondsey beer mile, a must-do-crawl for enthusiasts and it's been the starting point for me. Not the best, not the most adventurous but a good bar setter for the cloudwaters and such to come. It's nice to see their name in a supermarket..or is it? It could be a metaphor for the mundane, for compromise, possibly, but still you'd wanna pick up one of these before Beavertown, Tiny Rebel, Camden, Brewdog and the like. Where as they provide nothing but disappointment BBNo is solid like Siren. This pale ale is indeed pale, lacking colour and depth..it's only a bit hazy. Bright and nice quintessential Citra aroma, usual tropical and citrus fruits you'd expect only subdued. Light and thin mouthfeel with medium body at the most, the can describes it as full bodied, it most certainly is not! The can also employs you to drink fresh stating that hops fade fast, yet at the same time giving a year long best before date. This example is already 3months old, I really wouldn't want to drink it next year! But that's supermarket for you, they demand shelf sitters. The flavour is soft but pleasant with moderate juice and a fast finish. Not hoppy really and the juiciness is not pronounced enough for you to dream up particular fruits. Still, better than most of the "craft" in Sainsbury's right now. I only wish it was on offer when I bought it..one pound more and could have a beautiful Polly's.
