A well crafted black (deep dark red actually) IPA. This cascadian dark ale builds a massive thick head that lasts quite a while but not indefinitely. It eventually collapses to a good thin layer. Lacing is sticky and leaves sparse patchy rings. Ample piney hops aroma with some minor tropical fruit dominate the caramel, roasty, slightly biscuit malt contributions. Piney resinous bitter hops flood the tastebuds and only relent their control when you are fully made aware that this is indeed an IPA. The dark aspects of the malt gently make themselves known in the background. The strength in this beer is the quality of the brew as opposed to any outstanding traits. A solid well built beer true to its style and a good example of it. Leaves the palate with a piney bitter (but pleasant) aftertaste.
