I pulled a dumb move and missed that this is a cherry Baltic porter with tart cherry puree. I'd still have tried it but it's not what I was expecting. I admit that I kept avoiding parallel 49 beers until not that long ago due to some odd perception that they made inferior beer. I apologize for that because I was way wrong. This is another one to prove that. A rich dark chestnut brown provides a wonderful pedestal for the aromas to stand on. The nose is treated to a quality display of some typical porter type scents: nutty, roast malt, equal small amounts of chocolate and coffee, and if course, cherry. At first I didn't care for the tart cherry, but it quickly finds its place in the flavour profile and works very well. Alongside the cherry you will find salted caramel, roast malt, chocolate and coffee in small amounts, and a bit of boozyness. All this wrapped in a silky full body. I dig it.
