Gniewosz beer with a spicy flavor was prepared as the original project of brewers of the Czarnków Brewery inspired by the recipes of Marcin from Urzędów. A living in the 16th century, Marcin from Urzędów, a doctor and herbalist, published in 1595 the "Polish Herbal" - a natural-healing work considered the first textbook of pharmacognosy. According to his records, the mulled drink was enriched with fruits from home gardens: black currants, red currants, raspberries, vines and aronia. Dried fruits used for "mulled wine" are plums, apples, pears, and wild fruit grater and hawthorn. Additives such as cinnamon, vanilla, cloves, ginger, nutmeg were bought. Honey from own hives was also added.

Viele polnische Brauerein sind ja bekannt für abgefahrene Biere. Dieses gehört für mich in diese Kategorie.
Dunkelbraun mit Kupferstich präsentiert sich das Gewürzbier gänzlich ohne Schaum im Glas.
Das Dunkle Bier riecht nach dominantem Honig und Lebkuchen bzw. Spekulatius.
Der Honig erinnert an eine bestimmt schweizer Sorte Salbei-Honigbonbons und tritt sehr kräftig auf. Die Gewürzkekse sind nicht mehr vorhanden. Eher wird es kräuterich wo wir wieder bei den Bonbons währen oder auch in Richtung Jägermeister tendieren.
Im Nachtrunk kommt noch eine Prise Zimt und Lebkuchengewürz zum Vorschein.
Das Dunkle Bier hat einen mittleren Körper und ein weiches, vollmundiges, etwas klebriges Mundgefühl.
Dieses Bier ist eine spezielle Erfahrung und durchaus nicht unlecker. Honigbierfreunde sollten definitiv einen Schluck riskieren. Für mich reicht dieses Eine.

An interesting spiced beer. reminiscent of a spiced fruit cake with flavours of berries and currants, cinnamon and nutmeg with a smooth honey finish.
