I’ve tasted many iterations of this beer but this one really seems to make the most sense. It’s got a great balance of bitterness, malt and slight sweetness that makes it one of the most together and least confusing black IPAs that I’ve tried. Initial taste is quite sweet with hints of both dark chocolate and some savoury malt and oats. The finish is almost too dry and bitter but works well in this style after the sweetness at the beginning. Not exactly easy drinking but i wouldn’t expect that from a beer of this style.

This has developed fantastically into a very warming, chocolatey masterpiece. Edging very close to a stout but I’m not complaining.

This makes more sense to me as a black IPA. Thick and dark and some fantastic savoury flavours give an alternative take on an IPA. None of those stout flavours and smells that confused the other black IPA I tried earlier this month. Delicious and very moreish!
