Picked up on a whim last month from the fridge of a local microbrewery in Rīga. I’ve had Malduguns beer many times before and have mostly found their stuff to be run-of-the-mill, nothing exceptional, but steamrolling the Latvian craft beer scene 👍 Until now… This beer is very good. They’ve pushed the boat out on this one! It’s a straight up adjunct-free imperial stout. It has aroma of chocolate and freshly baked bread. Chocolate again dominates the flavour but is met with a mellow roastiness, caramel, some fruits and vanilla. Low carbonation and extremely smooth it’s a big beer that remains light in the mouth. Great stuff!

Tumšā puse is a really good imperial stout. Stouts taste, you know, stouty, but here the flavour is somehow strong and the high ABV helps. Quite sweet.
