Heilman's Special Export, Pabst Brewing Company, United States
1 notes
Heilman's Special Export
Dortmunder / Helles
Special Export lager accentuates the smooth slow-brewed taste of European beer.  Using all-American northern barley and northwestern hops, Special Export transforms these ingredients into a fine beer imbued with old world craftsmanship. Special Export’s founder, Gottlieb Heileman, opted to start his brewery in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, a city claiming pure water and a large population of thirsty Germans to drink beer.  In 1858, he built the City Brewery, which is still in operation today, continuing to brew several Pabst Brewing Company products. After Prohibition, Heileman’s brewmaster was asked by the workforce to brew an especially “strong” beer for the company picnic. They loved it, and it paired perfectly with their favorite bratwurst. In 1934, Heileman’s Special Export was born. Today, consumers across the upper Midwest continue to enjoy the quality and purity of Heileman’s Special Export and Special Export Light.

Picked it up having never seen it before. I was not very impressed, but I wasn't expecting much. It did the job.
