In the 1980's the American Craft Brewing scene had gotten under way and some craft brewers thought the mass produced beers in America were too ordinary and too yellow. They wanted to brew something with more color so they created the Red Ale. Chuckanut Brewery uses only Vienna, Carared, and Melanoidan malts to accentuate reddish hues within the Red Ale. Rich caramel tones balanced with appropriate hop bitterness for easy drinkability are the highlights of Chuckanut Red Ale.
