Elizabethan Ale was devised in 1952 and was modelled on the dark barley wines prevalent at that time. The brewery has meticulously reproduced the original recipe, which included black malt and flaked barley, to produce a 7.5% alc barley wine in bottle and 5.0% alc draught version in cask. The blend of Fuggle and Golding hops even contains some from growers whose hops were used in the Coronation Brew.

I found this in one of those home-bargains/poundstretcher places. Quite appropriate, as I'd only pay about 50p to drink this even if I was about to die from dehydration. This was supposedly brewed as a tribute to our dear Queen's longevity. Those responsible should be taken to the Tower of London (an ironic twist as the beer is made by 'Tower Breweries' ) and beheaded. I have produced better beer from within my own body.

Stonking brew by Harveys. The abv is evident in its flavour and the malts are tremendously strong.
