A west-coast Dark Strong Ale aged on whole fresh redwood branches. 14.5% ABV. This beer is intended to be aggressive in every dimension. An initially intense hop aroma challenges the alcohol heat in the nose, along with a hint of redwood bite. The body is full, with aggressive hop flavor in competition with caramel and toffee from the malt. This assault on the senses is then balanced by the tannins extracted from the redwood branches during aging. The tannins dry out the palate, clearing the hop and malt, leaving behind a smooth roasted character.
