The pilsner style originated in 1842 in the Pilsen region of Bohemia in what is now the Czech Republic and soon spread to become one of the most popular styles of beer around the world. Shortly after its introduction, Austria and Germany developed their own unique versions of Pilsner to serve the demands of their beer drinkers.
