Der Biersal is Barley Forge's hefeweizen or German wheat beer. We named this beer after the "Biersal," which is a German "kobold" or house elf of the beer cellar. Brewed with German pilsen and wheat malts, this beer is fermented with a traditional Bavarian yeast strain, which produces the clove phenols and banana fruity esters classic to the style. Medium-bodied on the palate, the German Munich, wheat and pilsen malts combine in this beer for a drink that is both refreshing and satisfying. This yeasty, spicy beer is best consumed fresh and pairs well with bratwurst and other smoked and cured meats, as well as Mexican food.
