Descendants of the Ancestral Puebloans considered Chaco to be a special gathering place for people of many clans to come together and share their traditions, ceremonies and knowledge. The roads radiating outwards from the canyon lead not only to other communities but to natural features such as springs, lakes and mountain tops and pinnacles.
