Caramel, chocolate and black malts create a light brown colored beer w / touches of toast, biscuit, and caramel in the flavor, with a clean, lager-like finish.
Like a Kolsch, this beer is fermented at 60F, lending to its clean, slightly bitter, and lager-like character. Unlike a Kolsch, caramel, chocolate and black malts are blended to create a light brown colored beer w / a touches of toast, biscuit, and caramel in the flavor. There are two types of altbiers, a Northern German alt and a Dusseldorf alt. Ours is a Northern German Alt with a fair amount of hop bittering from German Spalt hops. Northern German altbier usually has a little less bitterness and a little more malt sweetness than many Dusseldorf altbiers, which results in a more balanced beer.
