Wizard Burial Ground (2017) 11.8%, Brewery Vivant, United States

Wizard Burial Ground (2017)
11.8% Abt / Quadrupel
Brewed once a year, this special quadrupel is aged in freshly drained bourbon barrels and disappears into the shadows for a full year of cellaring. This year's brew becomes next year's release. We've been wood-aging beers and experimenting with wild fermentation since we opened in 2010. We encourage those in search of funky flavors to join us at our annual Wood-Aged Beer Festival each Autumn to find out more. See can for year designation. This beer will age gracefully when cellared appropriately (50°F and below). Enjoy!

Bourbon shows up first in the aroma. Caramel and some dark fruits are next. Taste has a sweet bourbon, oak from the barrel aging, dark fruits and caramel. This is good. Very good. One of the best quads I've tried for sure. Full body and lower carbonation. It's a shame I only have one can left. I would love to do a side by side review with bourbon/brandy barrel aged OMQ! From Frankenmuth Brewery. 4.25/5
