Klassisch Rauchbier. Aber als Weizen ?!?!? Interessant.

When my folks called me from Leuven to ask me if I wanted something from the Beershop they were at, I had a quick look at their website. For one, I really have to visit both Leuven and this shop. But second, they had Aecht Schenkerla. Of course this has nothing to do with Leuven, but since it is so hard to come by... (I know, I could order it online somewhere, but where's the fun in that?) Anyway... This smoke beer is very drinkable. The smoke is definitely there, but in relative moderation. That is, because only the barley is smoked and not the wheat. It is a light and hazy maroon, with an aroma that boasts both smoke and fruits. The real wheat flavours (banana and such) are a bit suppressed. By the smoke, for sure, not probably also because this beer is unfortunately past its may 26 BBD.

Heller-Bräu Trum - Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchweizen Prösterchen Ein Schlenkerla ist Pflicht. Das Rauchweizen ist 🌈 bräunlich, fast schlammig, sehr trüb 🌼 altweiß, stabil 👃angenehm, fruchtig 😋 erwartungsgemäß ist es… …am Gaumen. Zuerst rauchig, Tendenz zum Aschenbecher. Dann hilft reife Banane und dämpft den Rauchgeschmack. Hintenraus rauchig, trocken. 3,5/4/4
