When I read brown ale I was thinking a nice hoppy American number, however this is definitely of the English variety. Not to be disheartened it actually tastes quite good and is akin to a Mild which I love seeing new versions of. It was only 50 or so years ago when Milds dominated the British beer scene, we definitely need a resurgence in Milds!!
This beer has aromas of coffee, caramel and mild spice. It’s of medium light body and we’ll carbonated. The cappuccino coloured head thins to a glass lacing within minutes… mellow flavours of toffee, and light fruit cake round this beer off nicely.

Very dark. Malty and sweet. I don’t get it - what is the appeal of this style to a contemporary craft brewery? Was there ever a great brown ale?

Maltainen, ei liian makea. Perushyvä.
