Seems like a proper beer considering the dark, rainy and cold October weather. Bottle. Bottled on:? Temperature: +12,5 C Amber color with nice red hues. Off-white head is small and soon gone, although some of stays on top for a long time. Texture looks nice and thick: 4,25/5 Vanilla like bourbon and oak rises from the glass with a hefty, soft malt aroma. Caramel sweetness is also there as is a very faint toasty vibe: 4,25/5 Mouthfeel is full, not as chewy as I was hoping for it to be. Love the oaky bite this has. Medium-low carbonation and no perceived bitterness: 4/5 Taste is mostly oaky bourbon mixing up with the malty flavors. Mild but noticeable alcohol touch. Solid Scotch Ale: 11,25/15 Very nice beer and once again Dark Horse shows it's a top-level brewery. Nothing mindblowing though, "just" an above-average Scotch Ale: 15,5/20 =39,25/50

I'm pretty sure this beer is infected. Each time I have it, it's a little more sour than the last time. I think once I get through my last two bottles, I'll just stick with the regular version. 3/5

2016 vintage. Bourbon and caramel in the aroma. Taste has bourbon first, followed by caramel, some oak from the barrel aging about mid-palate and a kind of apple-like flavor throughout. Oak lingers into the aftertaste. Medium body with a medium-low carbonation. I think I'll do a side by side review with the regular version at some point. This is a very good bourbon barrel aged scotch ale, but I think I actually prefer the regular version over this one. I probably won't buy any more of these, but I'll enjoy the 4 bottles in the cellar over time. 3.75/5

Bourbon and caramel on the nose. Taste is very sweet. Sweet caramel taste. Almost tastes like there's some apple in this as well. Sweet apple. Abv is very well hidden. This is an incredibly flavorful beer. I will pick this up year after year. 4.5/5
