Good news. It's Thursday, which is almost as good as Friday. Especially when you've been schlepping around the country and are working from home the next day. In celebration, I've cracked open this beauty from Northern Monk. It's a double IPA at 8.7% and named after the first recorded year that hops were used by one of the hooded brethren. No idea of the historical validity - but I'm not arguing and it tastes great. The clearest of their beers I've had so far - but it still has a light haze about it. Expect a massive punch of hops, waves of big fruit, heavy on the pineapple and a blunderbuss blast of citrus tang. A big, powerful winner.

It's a very tasty well rounded double. Need to up their can game! Getting left behind in the art department but the beer is on form! Balanced bitterness. Great pour. Got a blocked nose so can't really comment on the aroma too much so will drink again for sure!
