I don't have high hopes for this but here it goes. Pour was decent, had a nice picturesque body of bubbly black stout with one finger of bubbly, chocolate colour foam on top.
Scent of sickly sweet, artifical chocolate the second I opened the can. Thankfully this calmed a bit after the pour, with the chocolate becoming a little less articifial and mellowing into a regular sweetness, as opposed to a sickly sweetness, accompanied by the other scents on offer of mild vanilla and Tonka bean.
Mouthfeel is silky smooth but surprisingly thin, kind of medium bodied leaning into light. I think the loss of carbonation makes it seem worse than it is but I guess it is needed to keep the silky texture.
Taste starts as a wall of sweet chocolate and vanilla. The tonka bean note has all but dissappeared and she lacks all and any coffee notes that one would usually find in a stout. Unfortunately, our friend lactose is also present in spades but this doesn't have to be a bad thing because as a milk stout this works really well. Silky smooth, sweet and full on with the flavour that's been promised.
It's a good chocolate milk stout but if it was a collaboration with Cadburys, I don't think there would be much of a difference.
