This murky black beer has the honor to be my nightcap. A bronze head delights me with its height of two fingers. The lifespan of the foam is short like that of a mayfly. A subdued lace ring orbits the surface longer though. Cacao nibs, milk chocolate and biscuit malt build the foundation of the scent. The label promises peanut and marshmallow – peanut is easily detectable, and as if slightly salty, whereas marshmallow is much less pronounced. The tastebuds look anxiously forward to having a sip. Peanut finds my taste receptors easily but marshmallow is weaker. Otherwise, the gustatory segment lists cacao nibs, cookie, biscuit malt, vanilla and dark caramel. Bourbon remains discreet in the background, it refuses to take a more central role here. Alright, adjuncts are obvious while the depth and complexity of the taste profile are average to this kind of beer. The body clocks medium-full to full. The ABV would certainly welcome an even bigger slam. The tail is dark chocolatey and nutty, with Bourbon, vanilla and a suggestion of marshmallow. The mouthfeel is medium-full, soft, smooth, gentle, deep, medium-intense and lip-glueing. The sensation is also neatly warming, adjuncted and moderately barrel aged. The bottle form is unique. The copper colored wax cap makes the package look luxurious. Beautiful.

Pähkinällä ja vaahtokarkilla maustettu imppu & barley wine blendi. Lasiin kaataessa pintaan sihahtaa hätäinen vaahto, joka kertoi hiukan odotettua isommasta määrästä hiilihappoja. Tuoksussa toffeeta ja rusinaa. Runko on tuhti ja suutuntuma rasvainen. Maku alusta loppuun tosi imelän makea. Makumaailma muuten kyllä aika köyhä. Vaahtokarkki ei maistu ja pähkinääkin saa ihan tosissaan hakea. Noh, tää on tällanen ylimakea sotku. Ilman turhia mausteita vois olla parempi. Edit: lämmetessään parani huomattavasti ja pähkinäkin alkoi maistua. Ihan okei.

Paahteinen, siirappinen, maltainen herkku!

Paksun öljyinen ja tumma ruskea. Rusinaista suklaata ja toffeeta tuoksussa paksulla paahteella. Pehmeän imelä ja paksun paahteinen kärki. Rungossa lisää rusinaa sekä toffeeta paksun paahteisen pähkinäisyyden kanssa. Jälkimakuun pienen makean hapokkuuden kanssa ja imelällä rusinalla.
