Just opening the can gives a gush of sweet caramel Aromas. Pouring, it looks like treacle, with a sheen that makes it look twice as thick as it actually is. Body is jet black with only one finger of bubbly, mocha brown foam with poor retention. Aromas of sweet peanut, sweeter caramel and sweet chocolate all hit the nose at the same time in equal measure. Behind the sweet chocolate however, a mildly bitter dark chocolate and coffee note can be detected. The beer is medium bodied, well, not heavy but a little more than medium. Maybe 'light-heavy'? It is luscious and very smooth, with the sweetness overwhelming even so as to intrude on the texture. There is a very faint carbonation felt before it becomes syrupy and just as it does become syrupy, the warm alcohol rolls in. Taste is faint coffee, dried fruit and chocolate, with very synthetic tasting peanut and caramel. Some complexity does develop in the base notes of chocolate and coffee, as the bitterness and the sweetness playoff of each other, but the peanut and caramel notes are too much in my opinion. While aiming for 'pastry stout' this hits the bullseye, but to find something practically drinkable, this is wide of the mark. If I could get it into a sponge cake, I think it would be a great success.

Suklainen, karamellinen, pähkinäinen. Upea tuoksu ja aika täydellinen balanssi
