Take a brief sidestep to the dark side. No alcohol needed. The brewery is famous, and I allow myself to anticipate a gorgeous product.
The appearance is muddy black. The carbonation is shy. A generous sand-hued foam is formed, exceeding two fingers and descending fast to a hair-thin lace ring.
The nose likes the aromas of roasted malt, roasted coffee beans and raw cacao powder. Faint tobacco enters the olfactory sphere soon thereafter. Quite intriguing.
The tastebuds receive roasted malt, marginally burned as well, crushed coffee beans and a suggestion of rye flour. Simple, straightforward and pleasant.
The body is light. The finishing line is crossed with roasted flavors but the coffeeish touch almost fades away.
The mouthfeel is light, roasty and remotely burned. The sensation is also husky, slightly dry and nicely characterful. A good piece, still not sensational.
