A really pleasant, strongly hopped Brown Ale that brings the flavor profile surprisingly close to Black IPAs. I definitely like this. Nice hops, roastiness, grapefruit, caramel and a bit of toffee. ____________ Oikein kivaa tällaista vahvasti humaloitua Brown Alea, joka saa makupaletin kääntymään jopa suhteellisen lähelle Black ipoja. Ehdottomasti tykkään tästä. Kivat humalat, paahteisuutta, greippiä, karamelliä ja vähän toffeeta.

If my yesterday's nightcap was sludgy, this is even sludgier. Brown, so turbid that I can't even verify if it's clear or cloudy. Like watery coffee. The carbonation is relatively shy but the beige frothy cap still exceeds two fingers. It shrinks quickly to a moderate lace ring and diaphanous haze on the surface. Let me inhale the precious aromas of this beer. Roasted coffee bean, ashtray, grapefruit, pine, black tea and malt. Quite a lineup for the nose. Not bad although I would prefer the softer sweeter English variety. The tastebuds get a shock with the level of hoppiness here. Mama! This is dry-grassy and piney. And grapefruity. Roasted malt, bitter overstayed coffee, too strong black tea, ashtray and a hint of raw cantaloupe seal the slam for now. Interesting. And not too easy. The body is light-medium to medium. Nicely synchronized with the ABV. The end accentuates the bitter hoppy elements while the malty side is left crawling to a great extent. The beer leaves a roasty, even slightly burned, a bit crisp, coniferous, dry and drying sensation in the mouth. And yet also lip-glueing. Additionally, I can feel my teeth are coated or did I miss toothbrushing this morning? Rating? As a brown ale, this is 3.2. As an American brown ale, maybe 3.6. I'll go for the average, 3.4 is my score.

Pehmeää paahteista mallasta ja kevyttä kuivahkoa humalointia.
