My souvenir from Brussels. Beer #2 of the gift box.
The beer is dressed in semiclear, pale amber. A soft creamy head exceeds one finger and decorates the surface as an impressive thick lacing for a long time.
Pale malt, biscuit, inverted sugar syrup and mandarin waft in the air. Typical, fairly introverted but appealing.
Biscuit, inverted sugar syrup, pale malt, dough, mandarin and a hint of lemon pith constitute the gustatory provision. Very predictable but now we are playing with nuances as for the rating. I like the fact that the sugary elements don't overwhelm my senses but rather remain at a manageable level. I could certainly do without it but it's one of the key ingredients that gives a blonde beer a distinct Belgiany character. Secondly, this beerstyle doesn't waltz smoothly with a high hop grade. This beer is soft, you can sense almost no hops at all.
The body is medium. The tail is not hugely different from upfront but the citrusy side swells a bit in the end. Particularly, lemon zest and orange peel can be observed.
The mouthfeel is medium, zesty, Belgiany, soft and smooth. A tasty piece!
