I understand Marzen has a protected status now so I'm sure this isn't 'authentic' but Kinnegar never put a foot wrong.
Looks good in the glass, golden with a medium amber tint and lots of carbonation up the glass, giving me two fingers of fluffy foam that retained well.
Scent is like a base of malted barley with dry bread, plain cracker and salty pretzels.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, starting as a light foaminess, on top of a normal lager style body. A little crisp kick and moderate carbonation that lasts throughout.
Taste carries much of the scent but with a sweet hint that carries from start to finish, just beneath the surface. It starts with the doughy bread, then the plain cracker, with the sweet malt now livening it up, before the salty pretzel arrives to harmonise with the sweetness.
This is effectively a Vienna lager with a little sweetness in the taste.
