Still using my Real Ale glass in respect for the tragedy in the Hill country of Texas. The brewery is an Missouri City Texas, very close to where Ryan works. We had the 2020 version and I liked it a lot.
Didn't produce much head on the pour. Aroma of prunes and whiskey. Texture was cola like, not heavy at all. Flavor profile starts with a heavy dose of oak barrel and an abundance of whiskey. Not surprising since it spent a year in a whiskey barrel. It was intense with almost no sweetness and only during the finish that I get the smallest apparition of chocolate. Finish also, for me, turned slightly sour.
It rarely happens that Ryan and I have differing pallets. This is one. I did not very much care for this beer while he felt that it was okay. I'm glad we don't always agree. That would be boring. Perhaps it's my desire that my stouts have some level of sweetness. Or maybe I want something besides oak and whiskey in my beer. Oh well.
