Another one of my son-in-laws "12 Beers of Christmas" from Clown Shoes. Having it together with Duo. I don't think they have brewed this recipe in quite a few years.
Small head that dissipates quickly, light tan. Color is a translucent burnt bronze, deep but not opaque. Very faint aroma of sweet caramel. Texture is soft and velvety. First thing I get is a gentle bitter coffee softened with oatmeal and a sweet caramel. Flavor intensifies during the finish with a more pronounced coffee leaning towards expresso, caramel becomes more dominant, and the 8.5% alcohol finally becomes evident.
This beer gets better as it warms and the flavors become even more intense. As a beer in the brown ale category, I think this is one of the best I've ever had. They should make this part of their regular offerings.

In the aroma, I'm getting the oatmeal. Not really getting coffee or lactose, but let's see what the taste has to offer. Expresso is definitely present in the taste. I'm getting the lactose (milk sugars), and the oatmeal smooths it out some, but there is a slight bitterness in here. I'm also getting some caramel and as it continues to warm, some chocolate. This is advertised as a 'breakfast brown ale', but it drinks more like a lighter stout. Medium mouthfeel and a moderate amount of carbonation. I like this. One of the better brown ales I've had. 4/5

Not a bad start to 3 nights off in a row. Unique flavor to this one. I've liked previous clown shoes and this one didn't disappoint.

Bought a big bottle. Really like this one. Has a caramel oatmeal malt taste. A little sweet (like brown ales are) but very flavorful. Pours a dark brown color. Started this one in snow in the back of my truck since it was warm when I bought it

Mycket bra, gårdagen är som bortsopad. Lagom stark, lagom söt.
