Smoc
5.1% Sour / Wild Ale
The base beer is a Saison made using 33% rye malt, which adds a spicy fruit forward acid profile. This beer was then aged in peated whisky barrels from Springbank Distillery and then further aged on halved plums without stones. Grassy peat forwards smoky nose with underlying fruit. Rich plum notes with smoke and fruity acidity. Finishing on peaty smoke and oak barrel tannins.

Not as plummy or as smokey as I’d have hoped but still a decent beer and perfect to go with my dinner. Plum notes, spicy biscuity malt. Smoked cones through as does peaty booziness. Nothing too overpowering, nice easy drinking beer.
