Happy Friday! A Boulevard Duo with my daughter and Ryan. Another one of their limited release imperial stouts. Aged 2 years in 20-year-old Bourbon barrels and then 5 months in a Cabernet barrel. Bold! During the pour I could see just a little red light flickering. Very little head emerged. Aroma has the Cabernet wine, heavy malt and boozy. Texture is velvetly soft and smooth. First flavor that hits is the wine, then the oak barrel Bourbon followed by a mouth tingling alcohol. All these flavors are sitting on a bed of earthy dark malt. Just as all these flavors peak it morphs into the finish. The red wine faintly remains while a red cherry and dark bittersweet chocolate now smoothly begins to dominate the flavor. Can you imagine enjoying a Cabernet wine, a bourbon and a beer at the same time? How can this be done? Try this beer and you'll find out. It's excellent and shows pure craftmanship. Ryan held back a little but not me. I'm going all the way, 5.0.
