Block House IPA
6.2% India Pale Ale
Poured from a 12oz bottle into typical pint glass. Color is a light orange, clear with moderate carbonation. Pours with a 1.5 finger head but retention doesn't last long. When sipped leaves a fair amount of lacing though. Taste is crisp and clean. First hit of flavor is the pine resin of the Chinook hop. Second is mellow and smooth from centennial hops. On the back end there is slight bitterness from cascade hops. It seems like magic that a beer could be this crisp clean and full bodied. After some research I found its due to mineral water used in the brew giving essentially a perfect base. This surprisingly came from and old time Pittsburgh brewery, Iron City. Block House is their craft division and in my opinion hitting it straight on the mark. Proud to call this a brew of my home town! 5/5
