Astika Lux was first released in the Bulgarian market in 1980 and it became the favorite beer of many connoisseurs very soon after its launch. As the pride of the 80s, it won 5 consecutive golden medals from the Monte Selection. Astika Fina Quality Lager is the current name of the brand; but the "Lux" heritage is still very much alive.

Nothing special, bit bland, but this appears to have caught the attention of the alcohol police and is now only 3.8%abv. Not sure Bulgaria rips off consumers like the UK does with higher taxes on stronger booze, fags are dirt cheap here. I don't smoke, but since I arrived I'm a 40 a day man.
I'd take this over Carling/Fosters any day of the week.
