Being a favourite style of mine I was really looking forward to this. Colour is amazing… Sadly the aromas set alarm bells ringing as it smelt like a Flanders Red. Tart, plummy and slightly vinegary. Taste wise it’s much the same and I’m struggling to understand why. As I’m drinking the beer the intensity is falling off but there’s still an acidic bite to it. Half way through the 375ml it’s flat and lifeless. I should be talking about the malt but can’t find any resemblance to Doppelbock at all in this.
