Spicy and Bold, a big Christmas cookie of a beer.
Samuel Adams® Old Fezziwig® Brown Ale is the Christmas cookie of beer. Bursting with spices of the season and a remarkably full body, it helps those long winter nights pass much quicker.
The full body hits the palate first with a depth of malt character ranging from sweeter toffee and caramel notes to the more dark, roasty chocolate notes. Then come the spices in full force. Cinnamon, ginger and orange peel dance on the tongue bringing with them the celebratory spirit that goes hand in hand with the season.

Day 2 of the Christmas Advent beers (bottle). What is funny is that I also had one saved from a variety pack I just had last week (can). So I’m going to do a double up review. Starting with the bottle.
This is spicy that has a ginger, light+ cinnamon taste. Has a light+ toffee malt. Spicy side is just a little more dominant. I’m still waiting for any citrus to show up as I finish the bottle. Bottle best by date Apr 2026.
Can: This seemed a little maltier with the toffee being a little more present. The spicy side was basically the same. This seemed more well balanced. I’m still waiting for any citrus to show up. Best by May 2026.

In a bit of a spicy mood, so I'm going to try this Sam Adam's Red ale. Beautiful color, crystal clear, red with just a touch of tangerine. Combine this with a burnt orange frothy head and it looks like something good. Malty sweet ale aroma adding a little cinnamon in the background. A moderate amount of carbonation. As for the taste. I'm surprised at how much of the ginger is in the forefront with the cinnamon a little behind it. The only thing I'm getting resembling orange peel is the pithy bitterness, definitely citrus, but no real orange that I can find.
An interesting beer, and since it's been getting a little nippy here, temperature wise, I was ready for something that had a wintertime season spice in it.
