Hoppy St. Patrick's Day!!ย ๐๐บ๐ปย A cold spell landed in Finland.ย โ๏ธ
Murky, deep dark brown beer is what I have in the glass. The carbonation is somewhat timid and produces a tawny head that misses the level of one finger. The foam can't sustain itself long but descends to a billowy ring instead.
A fruity scent. I expected something roasty or even burned but, at least at the first encounter, I rather enjoy a bit of cranberry and moderate crushed coffee bean. Licorice and a roasted note arrive only later when the beer has gained a bit of warmth.
The flavor side is rather bold: roasted malt comes here first. But not burned. Ample licorice, dry hops, a bit of resin and faint coffee bean fill in the rest of the boxes on the list. The taste is, generally speaking, quite intensive with generous nuances.
The body is full. And it surprises me big time. Positively!! I ๐ค it. The finish is hoppy and roasted malty with most of the previous elements remaining untouched. We got the dream team, doin' what we want; night turns into dawn, with the psychos and savants; goin' up to space with some glitter on the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel is full, a tad roasty, intense, fairly deep and decently piney. A very attractive example of a Double BIPA.

Interestingly, Pint Please has given a St. Paddy's sticker every year at least during 2017โ2023. This year it seems to be absent.ย ๐ค

Black IPA on aina ehdoton valinta jos tulee hanassa vastaan.
Tรคllรค kertaa ei oikein kuitenkaan vakuuttunut. Suklainen ja paahteinen, jรครค uupumaan sellainen raikas sitruksinen humalointi.
