Advent Calendar 2023, Day 13.
After 1.5 hours of snowplowing, I deserve my Christmas countdown beer. My reward looks opaque, brilliant black. The carbonation is sloppy, it produces a half-a-finger, silky, fawn head. The foamy layer dissipates hastily to a hair-thin lace ring on the top.
The nose receives sweet aromas: abundant lactose shakes hands with sugared cappuccino and generous milk foam. Shy vanilla ice cream, cacao nibs, chocolate cookie, toffee and a touch of cereal complete the flirting attempt.
The tongue finds immediately both enjoyable features and a disappointment. The benefits include coffeeish latte, lactose, cacao nibs and a wink of vanilla. The disappointment is undoubtedly the body that is thin. Not even light but thin. The adjuncts can't help with it.
The finish is coffeeish, milky and chocolatey. Basically, the same combination prevails at all the phases of the palate. I came to town on the milk truck, carrying more load than the aftertaste itself, six o'clock in the morning.
The mouthfeel is lip-glueing, desserty, adjuncted, very milky and unfortunately thin. It's soft and smooth. Tastewise lovely, overall insufficient.
