An American imported smoothie style sour ale, though I don't think this is one of those dodgy lactose fruited sours you may find in an English supermarket!
It seems to have pulp or sediment floating in it and the head is sticking around and is pale yellow like when you zap fruit in a blender. On the nose is quite something, loads of coconut along with other tropical fruits like banana, pineapple and mango. Kiwi is listed on the can too. The smells are strong and real...as this is from actual fruit not impressions of fruit from hops.
In the mouth it's odd, just like the nose, it's not something I've had before. And again the coconut is strong, it's silky smooth and creamy then the sourness hits, it's unique or at least a new one to me. The sourness isn't really there second sip but the luscious nature is unrelenting. The coconut really makes this brew even though it's massive and all encompassing. Looking past it to find the other fruits with a gentle fizz behind them. Mango and banana are the joint second most prevalent elements for me and I can taste the kiwi too brings a slight sharper edge. The banana goes with the coconut well and pineapple battle kiwi for sweet and sour influence.
I suppose it's quite sickly, very sweet for a sour and although I've praised the high coconut it probably is excessive. Overall it's a beautiful brew and rather unique. A 7% ABV sour that's not very sour and is more sweet. Packed with tropical fruit and presenting as a smoothie.
EDIT: The coconut mellows somewhere over time, whilst remaining creamy the mango has more of a chance to shine and reminds me of a mango lassi. But it has depth and complexity a mango lassi doesn't have, banana making it very smoothie like and the pineapple and kiwi keeping it sharp. It's great, hard to believe it's a beer really.
