Blaecorn Unidragon (2023), United States
3.2
Un petit goût de fumé, très amère. Je ne suis pas fan, ce n'est pas ce que je recherche dans une IS.

Blaecorn Unidragon (2023), United States

Advent Calendar 2023, Day 11. The beer shows a murky, oily black complexion. The cheerful carbonation unlocks a silky fawn head that swells two fingers thick. An erratic billowy lace ring is what is soon left of the foamy cap on the surface. The olfactory segment offers roasted malt and distant rye flour. That's it. The scent is, generally speaking, unexpectedly limited. I'd rather not use the word 'disappointment' until I have tasted the product but, to be honest, it is what comes to my mind at the moment. The gustatory universe bails out a bit. I spot cacao nibs, roasted malt, something like burned wood to a small extent as well as surprisingly strong piney hops. A bitter coffeeish hint finds its way to my tongue thereafter. Reasonable at least. The body is just full, but nothing like massive. The finish is equally bitter piney and burned, the few components being otherwise the same as before but the coffee grows somewhat. I know the aftertaste doesn't want to unleash the unidragon; let it keep it tucked under, it might have been a little absent; and we know it's fire still roaring and its action. The mouthfeel is full, roasty, modestly burned, somewhat strong and interestingly crisp. It's soft and smooth, as well. Still rather straightforward without gimmicks, let alone layers. The rating is conducted within the category of a "Russian Imperial Stout" that normally is fairly one-dimensional. Hence, well decent in relation to the peers.
