Advent Calendar 2023, Day 2. If yesterday was a cautious start, today I'll dive into the deep end. The deep end looks deep black. Opaque as hell. Shy carbonation unleashes a beautiful tan head with a dense moussy texture. A cute lace ring floats on the top thereafter. The olfactory constellation is composed of powerful brandy barrel with a hefty reflection of vanilla. I can also find dark chocolate, cacao nibs, syrup and faint caramel. I don't know if I'm imagining or what but I think I'm picking also distant baked apple here. I would describe the tasting notes as consisting of loads of brandy and brandy soaked barrel, relatively ample dark chocolate, cacao nibs of course, but vanilla and syrup have plummeted in intensity. Alcohol can be felt but it doesn't taste disturbing at all. The body is full. Not the most robust ever but neatly full anyway. The end shows identical vibes as before. The brandy barrel still portrays hefty flavors to the tastebuds. Now, the aftertaste lived by the apple orchard in this little ole orchard shack; his real name was Jackson Taylor but I called him AppleJack. The mouthfeel then? Full as already indicated. Warming, of course. Attractively barrel aged. No adjuncts, no gimmicks. Deep and medium-rich it is, not really layered but not fully "un-complex" either. Soft and smooth, somewhat lip-glueing and a bit sticky. Gentle as well. Good stuff for the second day of the countdown. NOTE: The barcode leads to BA20 Vol. 2: Amburilla.
