4.6
This is a past post from Thanksgiving Day. Ate so much food that I turned into a zombie and was too full to give the beer a review. Ryan and I and Kenzie, she loves anything pumpkin, are enjoying this 2022 edition.
Started with a very low head, not opaque which is rare for a imperial stout. Could see traces of red around the edges. Texture is also much thinner than most Imperial stouts. Much more like a porter. Plenty of flavor. Alcohol is prominent, more dominant as a flavor than the 11.2% would indicate. Spice, pumpkin, a little nutmeg and, in the background, a touch of coffee bitterness.
This is an excellent beer but I felt that the barrel aged version was superior. I missed that bourbon addition to the flavor.
