Urban Pils, Luxembourg
4.2
One small beer for the road: a German Pilsner brewed specifically for this restaurant. Lucid, deep gold beer with long-lived albeit obedient carbonation gives rise to a pure white, airy head that reaches one finger. The foamy lid caps the beer's precious aromas for quite a long time. (You can hear me applauding 👏🏻) The nose receives biscuit malt and bready elements. Faint diacetyl lingers in the shadows. It compromises the cleanness but attracts me big time. The tongue enjoys grainy malt, bready flavors, distinct diacetyl and a buttery twist. The hoppy amendment is indisputable, yet not overwhelming, letting the malts do their business. A bit different from a German Pils, fits better in the Czech Pilsner category. The body is light. The end is not much different from upfront, just the diacetylic punch levels off drastically. Urban spice, a chic aftertaste; urban spice, makes it wanna find all the vice, hafta roll the dice; urban spice, break all the ice. The mouthfeel is light, a tad diacetylic, very slick, moderately crisp and marginally drying. Okay, this rating is corrupted because I happen to love diacetyl in Pilsners.
