Positive Deviants
4.0% Pale Ale - New England
Our first pale ale is naturally hazy, lightly bitter, easy drinking and thirst quenching. Showcasing three flavoursome American hops, Cascade and Chinook deliver refreshing notes of pine, lime zest and grapefruit, while Citra brings softer, juicier orange and peach. This beer is brewed with malted wheat and oats for a full body and subtle malt character which allows the hops to shine.
Humalat: Cascade, Chinook, Citra
Maltaat: Oat, Wheat

Hand Brew Co are very local to me indeed and they share a unit with Cloak and Dagger. I have had several of their brews and haven't been impressed to be honest. Nevertheless I have picked up this pale to try. It's is very pale and lemon juice colours with some head retention. It is light and bright on the nose with citrus zest and subtle juice notes of satsuma, peach and grapefruit. It's it's light in the mouth but not entirely thin, it has a medium body to it thanks to the oats and even a tinge of maltiness. The carbonation is vigorous but in a light spritz manner. The flavour is very gentle frankly, but it is refreshing as the can suggests it would be. Citrus zest is what your getting which is nice but it's not alot to go on and there is no depth to this profile as the juices are far too subtle and subdued. Saying that though you can pick up on peach and orange as promised. Pale is a pale I guess...and this isn't an outstanding one like Deya would make. Nevermind. It's still nice and enjoyable, particularly the malty differentiator.
