Holy Infinity Vortex // 10th Anniversary // IPA 0.5%, Northern Monk Brew Co., England

Holy Infinity Vortex // 10th Anniversary // IPA
0.5% New England IPA / Hazy IPA
“Rebrew one of our best ever beers, but without the booze.” That was the challenge we set ourselves. Our latest 10th anniversary beer is the return of Infinity Vortex, but at 0.5%. The original, part of Tankpetrol’s Patrons Project series from 2021, is our highest ever rated NEIPA and our eighth-best rated beer of all time. We wanted to bring it back but do something different, something bold, something ambitious. Why should those who don’t drink miss out? We set our head brewer and co-founder Brian the challenge; rebrew one of our best but without the ABV. Infinity Vortex AF is as a punchy and juicy as you’ll ever get in a non-alcohol beer. Made with Citra, El Dorado and Cashmere hops to make you smack your lips and wonder how the hell the team did it. Just like the original, this version is made in collaboration with two of America’s best breweries’ Other Half and Equilibrium. “You want to try that? Let’s do it.” Alcohol-free beers have come on so much in the last few years and we hope this release will be a new highlight for the scene.

Vähän pliisu. Mutta, ruokana kermainen rapupasta jonka vieressä tämä olut oli aivan mainio. Hieman sitruksen makua niin sopi siksikin.

The winter is coming, can't help it. 🌨️❄️ But before settling on a cozy path of the dark beers, a few hop bombs reminiscent of the summer gone by. The beer colors like cloudy, mango juice. Marginally milky actually. A whipped-creamy head reaches one finger's yardstick and melts then gradually to a thin haze. Mango and tangerine take the lead in the olfactory competition. Cantaloupe, green grape and pear accompany in a distance. Very promising for 0.5 %. Interesting for sure. Let me enjoy a couple of sips. Rather thin, my first observation says. But juicy and fruity, not at all bitter. Orange, lemon, pineapple, a bit of grapefruit pith and faint grass can be spotted in the taste. Unfortunately, no cantaloupe, mango, pear or grape anymore at this stage. I would have definitely welcomed such a tropical bliss. Like I said, the body is thin. Or thin to light, something like light minus. The finish is identical to upfront flavorwise and ends really fast. Come on, come in, step into the vortex of where the aftertaste belongs. The mouthfeel is thin, juicy, zesty, summery and refreshing. Very distantly drying. All in all, a balanced, well crafted piece, yet I hoped for even more given the three awesome hop wizards (Northern Monk, Equilibrium, Other Half) behind this beer.

Very, very nice indeed! One of the best alcohol free beers I have tasted. Smooth, dry, juicy and very easy to drink. Also lots of taste. Lots of tangerine flavours.
