Kokista, vaniljaa, vadelmaa. Oikein hyvä

Sometimes a beer can be traditional and straightforward, sometimes adventurous and unpredictable. This Vanilla Cola Raspberry Gose sounds like a weirdo in the beer universe. The beer appears as wellnigh transparent vermilion. Looks very much like rowanberry juice. The carbonation is more or less dead when I crack the can open but regains the life when the beer flows out of the can. A tiny-bubbled head remains below one finger and melts rapidly to a hair-thin lace ring. The scent gives what the name promises: first I get cola, second raspberry and third vanilla. They are all easily identifiable. A bit later, I find – or imagine – faint strawberry bubblegum and a lemony hint. The tastebuds fail to experience this beer in the same way as the nose. The gustatory components start with moderate sour raspberry that gets confused with surprisingly distinct lingonberry. Cola is a good number two. Vanilla is really awkward in the background, as if synthetic or something. Maybe also a wisp of redcurrant pops up occasionally from behind the scenes. However, I expected salt but I don't get it here. The body is light. The end whirls around a sour raspberry–cola medley that is powered by citrusy flavors here and there. Take me to a land far far away; humans are alien ballerinas play ballet; take me where my mind longs to go, beyond the clouds a space only I know. The mouthfeel is light, juicy, medium-tart, a bit puckering and interestingly balanced despite the weird flavor constellation. All in all, quite nice. +0.4 extra stars for making a seemingly incompatible mix work.
